Some of the biggest crowds and certainly the biggest smiles were at the games played by the youngest players in the Stz’uminus soccer tourney.
With names like the Munchies and the Junior Phats, the coed teams followed the ball around the small pitches like they were drawn to a magnet.
There were a few ‘stars’ whose soccer abilities were obvious. Then there were the players who were crestfallen about missing a shot and went to the sidelines for parents to dry their tears.
And there were others for whom the word ‘play’ was not necessarily about soccer, but rather wrestling with friends as the game went on around them.
